Shega Terms of Service

Shega is a digital social ecosystem for the Habesha diaspora. Today, Shega focuses on helping people find meaningful, lasting connection, and over time the Service may grow to support friendships, events, community, and other ways for the diaspora to connect. These Terms apply to all features of the Service, current and future.

You must be at least 18 years old to use Shega. By using the Service, you represent and warrant that you are 18 or older, that you can form a binding contract with us, and that you are not barred from using the Service under the laws of your jurisdiction. Shega is intended for adults seeking meaningful connection.

You are responsible for the information you provide and for keeping your account secure. You agree to provide accurate information, including a date of birth that reflects your true age, and to keep it up to date. You may not impersonate anyone, create an account for someone else, or maintain more than one account. You are responsible for activity that occurs under your account.

Shega is a community built on respect and shared culture. To keep it safe, you agree that you will not:

• harass, threaten, abuse, stalk, or intimidate any person;
• post or share content that is unlawful, hateful, discriminatory, sexually explicit, violent, or otherwise inappropriate;
• impersonate any person or misrepresent your identity, age, or affiliation;
• use the Service for any commercial solicitation, spam, fraud, or scam, including requests for money;
• share another person’s private information without their consent;
• solicit, exploit, or endanger minors in any way;
• use the Service to engage in human trafficking, prostitution, or any other illegal activity;
• attempt to circumvent safety features, verification, or content moderation;
• or collect or harvest other users’ data, or use bots, scrapers, or automated means to access the Service.

Violating these rules may result in content removal, suspension, or permanent termination of your account, at our discretion.

Shega helps people meet, but we do not conduct criminal background checks on users and we do not guarantee the identity, intentions, or conduct of any user. You are solely responsible for your interactions with other people. Always use caution and good judgment, especially when meeting someone in person. Meet in public places, tell someone you trust where you are going, and trust your instincts.

Shega offers verification and content-moderation features to support community safety. These tools help but do not guarantee that any user is who they claim to be. A verification badge indicates a user completed a verification step. It is not a guarantee of identity or character.

You retain ownership of the photos, text, and other content you submit (“User Content”). By submitting User Content, you grant Shega a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, display, and use that content for the purpose of operating and improving the Service. You are responsible for your User Content and represent that you have the rights to share it. We may remove content that violates these Terms.

Shega is free to download and use, with optional paid subscriptions and features.

Subscriptions and in-app purchases are processed by Apple through your Apple ID account, in accordance with Apple’s terms.

Paid subscriptions automatically renew at the end of each billing period unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the period ends, and your Apple ID will be charged for renewal within 24 hours before the period ends.

You can manage and cancel your subscription in your Apple ID account settings. Deleting the app does not cancel your subscription.

Refund requests are subject to Apple’s policies, and we generally do not control or provide refunds directly.

We may change subscription prices, and changes will not affect your current billing period and will be communicated as required.

You may stop using Shega and delete your account at any time through the app. We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms, create risk or legal exposure for us, or for any other reason at our discretion. Upon termination, your right to use the Service ends. Sections that by their nature should survive termination will survive.

The Service is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free, or that any connection or match will meet your expectations.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, O3 Holdings LLC and its owners, employees, and partners will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits, data, or goodwill, arising from your use of the Service or your interactions with other users. To the fullest extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim relating to the Service will not exceed the greater of the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim or one hundred US dollars.

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Virginia, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules.

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will post the updated Terms with a new “Last updated” date. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.
